kangel

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hallo! My name’s Kelly Angel, I live in England, with some family, two dogs, two cats and two rats. I have the mind of a 23 year old lady thing but the body of an 80 year old man. I have an addiction to pepsi max and work somewhere doing something with sign language.
I’m forever alone :iconforeveraloneplz:

kangel, how did you find deviantART?
Me and a friend were looking for a site to put up our bad anime drawings. We found one site but they temporarily stopped allowing people to sign up so we eventually came across deviantart, battled some evil wizards and stayed. It was fun C:

How did you get your username?
I think my dad came up with it. When we needed usernames for AOL (during ye olde days of dial up) so we took the first letter of our forename and plopped it in front of our surname and became; Tangel, Dangel, Rangel and Kangel. So unnecessarily long and uninteresting story short, it’s basically my name ;D

What do you like most about deviantART?
The people! It’s such a great place to meet different people with different interests from all over the world. There are a lot of people on here I’d consider my friend (Many I’ve unfortunately not been able to meet in real life) and I respect and admire C:

Are there any deviantART features that you have never used?
I’m not sure... I think I’ve tried everything at least once. I haven’t written a critique using the system, even though I think it’s a great feature. I get paranoid I won’t be able to write enough without using the same words over and over and eventually end up sounding like a broken record (I am in dire need of a thesaurus). That’s being a bit dramatic. If someone thinks I’ll be able to help and would like me to critique something I’d be happy to :meow:

As a GM, what do you look for in deviations when you are giving DDs?
Something special. Something that stands out from the crowd/something that will stick in your memory, or something that’s technically excellent or inventive. It’s hard to pin down what exactly that would be until I’ve seen it. I try to be as varied as I can be when I’m selecting pieces to be featured. I wouldn’t have been able to feature almost all the things I do without people taking the time to suggest them, it’s a massive help and I sincerely appreciate it. Basically, if you see something you like send it me :D

How old were you when you first became interested in art?
I’m not exactly sure when, it’s always been something I’ve enjoyed. When I was younger I always got a great feeling from creating something, it made me happy and, not knowing better, was convinced I was the greatest artist in the world (You wouldn’t tell a five year old they were awful ... would you? D’: ). Now it’s different, I love art in many different forms. I love how someone can create something amazing or beautiful, something that can make you laugh or make you cry from nothing more than a few materials. Art can be a very powerful tool in the right hands and life would be excessively more boring without it.

Which artists (off and on dA) inspire you?
So many D: Many of my close friends are artists, I’m surrounded by talent. My sister RainbowSloth is very talented and the most wonderful person in the world. Mollinda is also wonderful and talented in many different ways , UnicornReality makes the best crochet things ever (Anyone who makes the human centipede into a cute cuddly toy is amazing).
Charlie-Bowater is ridiculously talented, shirotsuki too! They make such stunning creations. inkblort, quite-possibly, Fievel-the-Mouse and sebreg all make wonderful comics/cartoons. spoonbard has one of the most creative and astounding galleries, his comics are astounding. jknozmo is one of the most talented young comic creators around, pretty much anything she makes is filled with awesomeness. Reading her comics always makes me want to make my own.
Off deviantart I adore the paintings of Lucian Freud, he is an amazing artist with a huge passion for art. I hope I’m still doing this arty thing when I’m almost 90 (And have 40 grandchildren...). Edward Monkton has a beautiful mind, his creations just make me smile. David Shrigley is a genius, I could look at his stuff all day.
There are probably many more I have missed D’: Lots of people inspire me.

What are your pet peeves on dA?
People who seem to enjoy their time on the site doing nothing other than complain about it. If you have issues try to resolve them and be patient with any results and realise the limitations of what can be done. Deviantart is such a huge website and the people running it are only human, who are trying to make the site better for the majority C:

Recently, there have been quite alot of natural disasters around the world, have you been affected by any? And do you have any messages for those affected?
No and I don’t know anyone personally who has. My heart goes out to all those who are affected, whether it’s yourself or family or friends, I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like. A lot of terrible things have happened lately, remember that the world is thinking about you and many people are doing what they can to help. Try to stay strong in these terrible times.

What type of music are you into?
I like lots of music! Some of my favourites are Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine, 30 Seconds to Mars, Daughtry, Fleet Foxes and lots more. I’ll listen to mostly anything really. I’ve listened to leekspin for 8 hours constantly once....

What kind of movies are you into?
I like comedies, fantasy, science fiction and animation. Really, I’ll watch anything that isn’t excessively gory (No Saw films for me) or that doesn’t have Mel Gibson in.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you for interviewing me :meow: I’m flattered! I hope I wasn’t horribly boring :noes:
:hug::la::heart:
(Also I just found out Justin Bieber is 17, I thought he was a lot younger....)

I'd like to say a huge thanks to kangel for taking the time to be interviewed.
